Album Review: L.S. Dunes - 'Violet'

Supergroup L.S. Dunes, featuring members of My Chemical Romance, Saosin, Circa Survive, Coheed and Cambria, and Thursday certainly brings some A List talent to a record (and a live show as you can see from our show review when they opened for Rise Against.) That performance in Austin last year is what drew us to the band in the first place. Originally formed and unveiled to the world at Chicago's Riot Fest in 2022, L.S. Dunes have been making waves on the rock scene and have developed a cult-like following.

Well, we believe with Violet, the group will take another step into the mainstream. If you're looking for driving guitar, dynamic vocals, masterful songwriting, and a steady rhythm section of bass and drums you've come to the right place. While we may call L.S. Dunes "rock" they really play with the genre, incorporating other elements of other genres including gorgeous falsettos from vocalist Anthony Green. Guitarist duo of Frank Iero and Travis Stever provide such a great foundation and complementing leads for everything we've heard from the band.

Violet is everything we love about alternative rock music. It's heady, it's driving, it can be ethereal, and it speaks to us. And trust us, this band is just as good live as they are on a record. Green's screaming vocals put chills down our spine, especially on the track "I Can See it Now...". We'd be remiss if we didn't mention that "Machines" is the best thing we've heard all year, hands down (we're not advocating skipping other tracks to get to it, but damn it's good!) If you're looking for top notch musicianship, unmatched songwriting, and a unique take on the alternative rock genre, Violet by L.S. Dunes is just what the doctor ordered.
