It's likely not news to you that K. Flay is always looking for ways to evolve. After the singer/songwriter recently lost hearing in her right ear, she decided to take six tracks from her 2023 MONO release and reimagine them as "softer" versions of themselves. The result is an entire new release by the artist where these songs take on a new flavor with smoother stylings, eased vocalizations, and a dreamy landscape drawn out for the listener.
The EP comes in at six tracks and each one has their own style to them that make them feel different from the rest. We still get signature style K. Flay bars, but they're slowed down a bit, especially on "Bar Soap". On MONO, these songs were intended to be modern or even future era rock tracks. Another highlight of the EP is getting to hear K. Flay's fantastic vocals isolated on these stripped down tracks. On I'm Making Friends with The Silence, these songs hauntingly dance in an ethereal motion for the listener. Almost like smoke rings rising from a slow-burning cigarette.
