1.) For a band that has had so much success, particularly with it's songwriting, how does it feel to be transcending music orientation? That is, you were popular after vinyl was passe, when CD's were the craze, it comes back vinyl is popular, and you all are still huge. How does that feel to have that lasting power for your fans?
"It's pretty amazing, but we've been doing vinyl for years but this album is the first time on vinyl. Capital was having a difficult time selling records and they wouldn't do it. Even though we had 6,000 copies presold on vinyl. I'm older, having an album in my hand is a visceral experience."
2.) It's crazy to think that it's been 25 years since Songs From An American Movie: Vol. One dropped. What has this album meant for you as a band, and what did it mean for you as a songwriter to pour your heart into these songs?
"I was going through a lot with this record. This record was originally a solo record and it was a singer/songwriter solo record. They were much more R&B, less rock, I turned it into the label and a bunch of people came to my door and tried to convince me to make it an Everclear record. I'm very proud of this record. Between this and So Much for the Afterglow they are among my favorite records.
3.) You've pulled out all the stops on this vinyl! We did a vinyl review and absolutely loved it! From the transparent yellow to the crisp sound, you've taken care of your listeners. Can you describe the care that went into this process?
"We worked with Intervention Records and they licensed it from Capital which is Universal. When I went to them, I talked about doing stuff on yellow vinyl because that was on the original deal. That was what Capital had promised. I'm really proud of how this came."
4.) In 1992 when you formed, did you think it possible to still be out there entertaining your fans over 30 years later?
"People ask me that question and I never let myself think that way because that's thinking of an exit strategy. I just put my blinders on and went. We played the clubs in '92. I was doing some gardening and this guy says "hey aren't you the guy from Evergreen" I said "Everclear yeah" later and he traded me gear for studio time and we recorded our first album there World of Noise."
5.) You are embarking on this fantastic tour with veterans Marcy Playground and Jimmie's Chicken Shack. What is your favorite part about the road and how does it feel to be joined by road vets like them for this tour?
"Well I know the guys in Marcy Playground for a long time and we all know Jimmie. They're sharing a bus and we have a bus. We have more sellouts on this tour than we've had in decades. It's great to be out on the road with our fans."
6.) What's next for Everclear?
"We're going to finish up this tour, we're doing a 90's cruise in January, we've got 20 dates for next year. We're just touring and doing stuff. I want to go in and record some new songs, I don't have a plan for an album. I just want to record them and put them out for fans."
